Vito Marcinkevicius, Weights For Soul
In episode sixteen we are joined by the Lithuanian Viking, Vito Marcinkevicius, founder of a specialist personal trainer business, ‘Weights for Soul’, which offers a holistic and scientific approach to sustainable body transformation. Vito’s mission is to M.E.L.T (Metabolic Enhanced Lifestyle Training) away fears, bad habits and poor diet, by promoting weightlifting as a way to enhance our souls.
Vito talks about his early years’ weightlifting back home in Lithuania and how he has always returned to lifting through the ups and downs of life. The feeling of happiness and the increased confidence he experiences from working out continues to this day, and he hopes everyone can experience this when they exercise. He also opens up about the continual challenge of managing his weight, one of his main drivers for helping others, as he is able to relate to those facing the same challenge.
We learn about Vito’s post-university businesses – from aluminium window systems to a boutique clothes shop – and the lessons he learned after the fallout of the 2008 global financial crisis. These setbacks have helped him build up ‘Weights for Soul’ with increased patience, determination and perseverance.
Vito also reveals how community and knowledge transfer are central to his coaching style and the success of ‘Weights for Soul’. Since launching the business, he has consistently offered free training sessions and donated his time to raise money for local causes.
Educating parents about the importance of teaching children good nutritional habits is a cause especially close to his heart, as he now has a young daughter. He talks about the problem : “Parents think it’s ok for kids to eat certain foods when they are young and they will grow out if, but these poor habits stay with them for life. I’ve struggled with my weight due to childhood habits, so I can relate. Good eating habits are fundamental to happiness in adult life.”
Weights for Soul has a great reputation and Vito talks about some of his inspirational clients and their amazing transformations.
