Mick Livesey, Commercial Director, Oxford City F.C.
If you are in search of positivity in what has been, let’s call it, a rather odd start to 2021 then look no further!
In episode eight we have the joy of listening to the positivity and passion exude from Mick Livesey, Commercial Director at Oxford City F.C. During our chat we discuss his career, Oxford City F.C.’s ambitions, the importance of the Oxfordshire community, his recent battle with COVID-19 and how he maintains his optimism.
Mick let’s us in on his early career starting out coaching at Manchester City F.C. under the tutelage of Kevin Keegan and then later in life he found himself under the wings of Lord Ashcroft. He discusses how much of a privilege it was to work with these great characters and how he has to pinch himself that he maintains fantastic mentors today. These early years definitely laid the foundations for great success.
Hear how he, along with his colleagues, built Oxford City F.C.’s most successful year ever on the commercial side, eclipsing the figures posted by many league clubs; a massive achievement for a club that is currently in the 6th tier of football in England. Mick talks candidly about how thankful he is to have great support from the local business community and how important it is for the football club to give back to local people. This has culminated in the club being awarded Community Project of the Year for their work in the community with Oxford City Casuals.
You only need to look at Mick’s social media accounts to see his passion for Oxford City F.C. and the vision that owners, Justin Merritt and Paul Lyon, have for the club. This energy and positivity is infectious and can be seen at all levels of the club. So, hats off to all involved, it sounds like its going to be one hell of a journey to the football league!
