Lindsay Willott, Customer Thermometer
In episode six we were lucky enough to grab some time with award winning serial entrepreneur Lindsay Willott, Founder and Chairman of one-click satisfaction app, Customer Thermometer. An inspirational lady, paving her own way in tech and a role model for anyone looking to enter the industry or set up their own business.
As a self-confessed literature geek and content junkie, having studied English and American Literature at University of Warwick, the dream was a career in traditional publishing. However, with the rise of digital, Lindsay opted to take a tangential approach and join the marketing graduate scheme of a listed software company. This would be the making of her in more ways than one and spark her entrepreneurial spirit.
Redundancy out of the blue, due to an accountancy scandal, created the unnerving challenging of what next? This was the push she needed to get creative and launch The Marketing Practice with an ex-colleague which went onto become one of the most successful B2B marketing agencies in the UK.
It was whilst building and growing The Marketing Practice that the idea for Customer Thermometer spawned. Lindsay’s continued curiosity for great customer experience and the dismally low response rates of customer surveys combined to create her original one-click electronic traffic light system. The business was founded in 2011 on a bootstrapped budget and has grown from strength to strength. Today, the business has over 1,500 customers across more than 60 countries, including well known brands such as Sonos, Dollar Shave Club and Leica.
Customer Thermometer continues to go from strength to strength and in recognition of their exporting success they were awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2019. They were also winners of a Gold Stevie Award for Sales & Customer Service in 2019 outlining their fantastic customer service with satisfaction scores to back it up.
